This is the story of an enigma which remained unresolved over the past four centuries.
Circa 1536 – 1550, the French school of navigation and charting at Dieppe produced atlas
and world maps some of which portrayed a vast land mass south of Indonesia.
This led many historians to associate it with the continent of Australia, but its greatly
distorted outline and the absence of geographical parallels of latitude and meridians of
longitude caused many to question that concept. [from the preface of the book]
