Famous large view and artistic master piece of Basilan Strait, from ‘Voyage au Pôle Sud et dans L’Océanie
…l’Astrolabe…Zélée…:Atlas Pittoresque’, pl. 140; Dumont was a French explorer and naval officer. For thirty-eight months, he explored the South and West Pacific including Southern Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, and Antarctica. Several seaweeds, plants, and shrubs are named after him, as well as D’Urville Island.

Condition

with blind stamp in the lower margin. Excellent condition which is very difficult to find as the few specimen that one encounters for sale throughout the decades usually are very brittle and tattered.
