1st Latin edition, from ‘Vera et genuina, designatio insularum…’, fol. 68 , part XI in the Latin edition of “Grosse Reisen”. Engraved depiction of the gulf of Albay and San Bernardino and Mayon Vulcano, from the description of the voyage of Oliver van Noort, complete original view with galleon and tattooed inhabitants in Oct. 1600 THE EARLIEST WESTERN INDIVIDUAL DEPICTION OF ALBAY GULF with Mayon Volcano. On the left represents the first despiction in print of a Filipino: a native from the Island of Capul. Van Noort writes: “…have very nice and beautifully cut engravings on their skin. On the right is an inhabitant of New Spain denoted as an “artisan”.
