EXTREMELY RARE Stock Certificate of 10 shares of the Manila Navigation Company, out of the capital stock of $ 100,000. with several “dividend paid” stamps, issued to N.J. Morse, with manuscript insertions + signatures of the company’s directors. A brilliant collector’s item of great beauty and historic value. This Shipping Line was founded in 1900 and covered a domestic cargo network within the Philippines, starting from 1906 in co-operation with the Manila Railway Co., later called Meralco. Due to disagreements among the directors of the Company, Manila Navigation Co. was dissolved in 1910. Beautifully rendered heraldic vignette showing two female allegories. Original Signature of Treasurer William Collins Beer who was an important entrepreneur in the Philippines, in South America, and in Cuba. After 1900 became a forceful lobbyist for Wells Fargo, International Harvester Co. of America, and the Fruit Importers’ Union – amongst others. Condition: not cancelled. With 4 liquidation stamps of the Wells Fargo Bank evidencing return payments of approx.. 60% of the nominal value.
