Shows a male native Tagal holding a cigar and an umbrella, and a native female Tagal holding a book (missal?), background shows a coastline, the sea and a sailing ship.

Alexander Friedrich Franz Hoffmann (1814 – 1882) was a German writer for the youth and the mass market and a book dealer, who published more than 250 larger or smaller stories, like in this series, which was very successful and ran for over 30 years since 1846.
