A. H. Petermann (1822 – 1878) was a German cartographer. The famous eight-sheet wall map of Australia, scale 1:3,500,000 – professionally joined despite the imperfect printing which does not really allow for accurate joining, amusingly visible on the longitudes. A superb effort to compile all available knowledge about Australia in a single coloured map-image.
