Description

original-colour lithograph map from ‘Annual Report of the War Department’.

The map shows engagements between American forces and Aguinaldo’s troops during their ill-fated attempt to fight a conventional war against the better-trained and equipped US troops before resorting to guerrilla-style warfare.
The combat shown here took place after the Filipinos had lost the city of Manila to the Americans when forces commanded by General MacArthur (father of the World War II and Korean War commander) pushed across the Marilao River in a drive to capture Aguinaldo’s capital of Malolos.
