Original-colour photo lithograph. EXTREMELY RARE.

Excellent early American map of the Philippine Islands in two parts, one of the first large maps to be created right after the American “acquisition” and one of the few named “Philippines” [NOT “Philippine Islands”], inserted in the 1902 edition, published by the National Geographic as a supplement to the National Geographic Magazine, Washington D.C., for January, 1902, as a reprint from the slightly earlier map, prepared under the direction of Brigadier General A. W. Greely, Chief Signal Officer U. S. Army.

Condition

thick paper with multiple folds as issued, light paper toning; tiny holes on few crossfolds, otherwise excellent condition.
