Description

original hand-colour copper engraving. RARE map from the “Atlas Novus”, Latin edition. With a giant elaborate figural title cartouche – a particular work of beauty, Australia still connected to New Guinea, even into and beyond the right inner neat line – a very unusual feature for a map. A very rare collectible in the second state, with privilege (granted after 1740).

Condition

centrefold as issued, with some foxing, tight margins.
