Description
hand-coloured copper engraving, RARE FIRST edition.
Maps & profile views from “A Voyage to New Holland in the Year 1699”. Dampier (1652-1715) was an English navigator/buccaneer, one of the first to round Cape Horn and the first to circumnavigate the world three times. He rescued Alexander Selkirk on one of his voyages, which inspired Daniel Defoe’s ‘Robinson Crusoe’. An interesting set of maps and views of the Philippines and Pulo Condore, with Batanes Islands shown with North to the right.
