The image provides a vivid record of earthquake damage and reconstruction in late 19th century Manila, preserving a rare visual account of the city during the Spanish colonial period. The former Calle San Roque in Santa Cruz is now M. Natividad St., with the San Roque Parish, near Rizal and Blumentritt intersection.
