The artist of this image depicting Spanish-Filipino mestizas in street attire with church veils. The women wear the traditional ‘traje de mestiza’ or ‘baro’t saya’, featuring a delicate pañuelo (fichu) around the shoulders and voluminous skirts.
All images from the ALBUM FILIPINO are considered virtually impossible to find as they hardly ever appeaar on the private market for decades, and if ever, then in generally poor condition, requiring major restoration works – unlike this specimen.

Condition

age toning and light spots on upper right, affecting plate, but still in very good condition.
