RARE view from “Nouveau Voyage Autour du Monde”, vol. 2, p. 75. The first edition was published in Amsterdam, 1698.
Dampier (1652-1715) was an English navigator/buccaneer, one of the first to round Cape Horn and the first to circumnavigate the world three times. He rescued Alexander Selkirk from Juan Fernandez Island during one of his voyages, which inspired Daniel Defoe’s Robinson Crusoe. His narratives were bestsellers on account of his splendid writing style and exhaustive scientific studies.

Condition

uneven margins; light paper toning and light vertical marks on center portion. Excellent condition overall.
