The Philippines in the 19th Century

Our third Sales Exhibition of Art in Print showcases several hundred original pieces by German, French, British, Dutch, Spanish, and other European artists who accompanied navigators, explorers, and scientists or simply travelled to feature the beauty and the peculiarities of foreign lands. Equally, Philippine artists are featured.

The Gallery of Prints is the first gallery in the Philippines to sell exclusively antique prints. Each original shown--which is of value both as an antique art piece as well as magazines about the Philippines, like the 'La Semana', published during that time. Together, the printed art on exhibit reflects not merely a fascinating picture of Philippine towns and landscapes, her people, their interests and customs, her flora and fauna, but also her struggle with colonisers.

We present with pride our 16-page full colour catalogue featuring some of the most beautiful pieces on sale, a Philippine first. We are confident the intriguing aspects of the 19th century will enhance your interest in her history.
